High wind finds every weak point on a roof
High winds lift shingle edges, tear shingles off outright, and work flashing loose at valleys and roof edges. Those are often the same spots we already check on every roof inspection.
Northwest Arkansas gets severe straight-line winds and tornadoes each storm season, and the roof takes the brunt of it. The list of what to look for is short: missing shingles, shingle edges you can see are lifted, exposed nail heads or underlayment where shingles tore away, and flashing that's bent, lifted, or missing at valleys and roof edges.

What the repair actually involves
We assess the damage first, then make the repair, from shingle replacement to flashing repair. Debris in the gutters after a storm, whether tree limbs or shingle granules, is one more clue about what the roof lost.
A torn-off section is an open door for the next rain, which is why wind repairs are worth doing before the next storm gets in rather than after it.

When it becomes an insurance conversation
