Perforated guards and screens handle leaves well. They do not stop the fine material: pine needles that slip through the openings, and the grit that sheds off an aging shingle roof and settles in the gutter as a dense sludge.
That fine debris packs down and holds water, and a standing wet gutter is where mosquitoes and wasps like to take up residence.

Stainless steel micro-mesh filters out roof grit, pine needles and leaves, the finest debris that gets past standard gutter screens. It is our highest-end protection for that reason.
The same mesh deters mosquitoes, wasps and other pests from moving into your gutters, on top of keeping them clear. Stainless steel resists rust, so the mesh holds up against the wet debris it is there to stop.
Fine mesh works best on a gutter that is already sound and correctly pitched. If the run is sagging or draining wrong, we fix that first, because no guard can make water flow uphill.

Who it is for, and who it is not
If your property has a lot of pine trees or fine debris, this is the guard we would recommend over our standard aluminum guards. Micro-mesh is usually worth the upgrade in that setting.
