Chapter 01
Four shingle problems, and what each one does to the roof
Wind can lift or remove a shingle without touching the roof under it. Left exposed, the underlayment beneath is the next thing to fail. Cracked or curling shingles usually point to age or heat, and they let water in at the crack.
Granule loss leaves bare patches that take UV damage, and hail bruising leaves soft spots you often cannot see from the ground but that still compromise the shingle's waterproofing. We find all four on a walked roof, not from the driveway.

Repair the bad shingles, or replace the roof?
When the damage is local, we replace only the affected shingles, matched as closely as possible to your existing roof so the repair blends in instead of standing out. There is no reason to sell you a new roof for four missing shingles.
We recommend replacement when the roof is 25 years or older with visible failure, when storm damage is widespread, or when it has been patched repeatedly. We hold off when the damage is one or two hail hits on an otherwise sound roof, or when it has three to five years of life left and you are not selling.
Chapter 03
After a storm, and the promise behind the repair
If the damage came from a recent storm, we document it for your insurance company as part of our claim assistance. In Arkansas you have two years from the original loss date to file, and after that the option is gone.
